The El Dorado Wineries, located amid the rolling foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, occupy a setting of spectacular beauty. The El Dorado wine district is one of California's oldest wine-producing areas. Vineyards and wineries first flourished here during the Gold Rush era, and then a century later in the 1970's, a renaissance in the growth of premium vineyards and wineries began in this picturesque community.

the Land Above It All

Any visitor traveling Highway 50 from El Dorado Hills to South Lake Tahoe will be charmed by the scenic variety this land has to offer. As you leave high-tech businesses, upscale residences and an ever-growing variety of leisure activities and continue up the hill, you will discover magnificent landscapes and panoramic views of vineyards, orchards and the Crystal Mountain Range. You will be inspired by an endless array of recreational opportunities. The people are friendly and the weather is mild. I invite you to plan a visit and see for yourself.

Enjoy skiing in winter, white-water rafting in summer, Apple Hill in the fall and flower gardens in the spring. Enjoy wine tasting, shopping, great restaurants, art galleries, golfing, hiking and camping all year.

Historic attractions abound in this land “above it all,” where the gold rush of 1849 started the movement toward settlement of the west. Visit Coloma and the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, where it all began. Pan for gold and watch as docents re-enact scenes from a bygone era. Tour buildings and museums whose curators have perfectly preserved a glimpse of the past.

You will discover a wealth of information about accommodations, activities and events as you turn the pages of this guide. For more information, visit our website at visit-eldorado.com or call us at (800) 457-6279.
And please plan to visit us in the land above it all: El Dorado County, California.
